  • Hershey PA trip sightings

This past weekend Hubby, Oldest Daughter, her boyfriend and i went to Hershey, PA to go to the Rock Alliance concert at Hershey Park Stadium. We had a great time, but there were some sucky venue workers and concert goers.

The first story is a sucky worker. We bought tickets that would allow us to be down on the field, but would also allow us to leave the field to sit in the bleachers if we needed to. Hubby, while they were putting his access band on his arm asked the woman, basically to clarify in his mind, where he had access to. She told him that once he was on the field, he could not leave the field. He stopped someone in security later (he needed to go to the restroom and you had to leave the field to go to the restrooms) and he was told that he could come back on the field and if he needed to he could sit in the bleachers.

The second story, there was a guy that was too drunk to be drinking any more, three times he would walk by me and each time he poured at least 1/2 of his cup of beer down my left leg. My daughter's boyfriend asked me later if my leg had gotten drunk since he could smell the beer on me.

The third story has a karma ending to it. When Seether was getting ready to take the stage, Hubby and I went to get the four of us a spot near the front of the stage. Oldest and her boyfriend was watching Fuel at the other end of the stadium. We sere standing there in the crowd and these three guys come up on my left side and get in front of us. We really did not care, there was enough room for the kids to join us still. A fourth guy comes up on Hubby's right side and just about knocked him to the ground. A little background, Hubby walks with a cane due to having a stroke a couple of years ago. Hubby asked the guy what his problem was and the guy got into his face. I pulled Hubby back so there would not be a physical confrontation. Latter in the evening we saw the guy and his friends being escorted out in handcuffs for instigating a fight.

First of all: so jealous. Sounds like an awesome concert.
    Sucky worker was sucky.
Drunk guy... I have no words. He didn't ruin your pants at least?
The dude that pushed your hubby: I'm glad they got the karma they were due.

I had on shorts. We joked all the way home that if we got pulled over that we were going to tell them that my left leg had been drinking.

The concert was really fantastic. We saw Puddle of Mud, Red Light Kings, Daughtry, Foxy Shazam, Buckcherry, Fuel, Seether, Third Days Grace and Stone Temple Pilots. I think the best band of the day was Seether.

          ...
I don't know who any of these bands are.

I'll just go sit in the dunce corner then, will I?

I've heard of Daughtry (but then Chris Daughtry is from the Greensboro area) but other than that, I'm just as lost as you are.

So I think I'll sit in the other dunce corner and wait for my DVD to burn.

It helps that Hubby is a retired DJ. The only bands that we saw that I had not heard of were Redlight Kings (an up and coming band that does not have a national contract) and Foxy Shazam. It also helps that the girls have listened to these groups in the house.

I've heard of Seether and Stone Temple Pilots. Beyond that... No idea.

Concerning the first issue, it's likely the employees upstairs were told something else. A lot of times at these types of events, employees are given conflicting information or think that every show is the same as the last. There are many shows that don't allow people to come off the standing room area. Shows like that get a little crazy for the workers because of the type of crowds they typically bring in. Plus, many of the people you see at these venues, especially places like Central PA where there really isn't typically a whole lot of shows, it's not uncommon for them to be new or unaware of what exactly is going on. It's hard to manage and educate people who do these types of jobs when they only actually do the job a couple times a month at best.

I know when I do events in places like Hershey, there is always a lot confusion and organization.

Stone Temple Pilots were big in the 1990s until it broke up for the second (third?) time and Scott Weiland formed Velvet Revolver with ex-Guns'n'Roses members. VR didn't do well after its great first album, and neither did the current incarnation of STP. And don't get me started on the endless side projects... Army of Anyone... Talk Show... Max Q (whoops, wrong group).

In my opinion, Seether was the best band of the day

I was at Hershey for Mixtape festival in August and believe me when I say it is the conflicting information.

It was an awesome trip for us. We got to know our oldest daughter's new boyfriend and the best thing of the trip was how well he got along with Hubby
