  • Gaming Store Suck

So today, I went and visited my friend's local gaming/comic book store. To note, next door to the store is a salon that, well, a lot of husbands get dragged to.
Well, as I'm browsing through the paints, this guy comes up and pokes his head in the door. "Yall have wifi? Can I use it? Its locked and all."

Friend: "Yes....we have wifi, for our customers."

Guy: "Yeah well, I need the password so I can go back and buy some Magic cards online."

Dead silence in the store, everyone turns and stares at him.

Friend: "Well, we can look up the cards for you if you want, we have a big selection of them."

Guy: "Well, uh, I need some black cards...you know..."

Friend: "We have a lot of those, too."

Guy, becoming very anxious: "Well, uh, I mean I need to look them up online and then tell you which ones I need."

Friend: "Alright, well, you can use the computer right here in the back to look them up...we have a database..."

Guy: "Nope nevermind, uhhh yeaaah uhmmmm I'll be back."

He turns and runs back down the sidewalk, in the salon's direction. I commented offhand that you had to admit the guy had chutzpah to try and bluff like that, and that I was wondering if I should've gotten the pitchfork.

I mean, really, who walks into a store and states flat out that they need to leech said store's resources so they can buy from their competitor?! (rhetorical!)

Bookstore 'patrons' for one. I see people all the time looking at the new titles, entering the information into their iPhone/tablet/Blackberry, and then leaving without buying anything because they are going to get them cheaper on Amazon.

(I know it was rhetorical, but I couldn't resist ).

actually if you saw me doing that, it would be me adding it to my, "can't afford now, come back next month" list yes I have to have a limit on book purchases-I have previously spent several hundred dollars on books, for me, in a single trip.....I have a problem, I know...

*stands up* MY name is BlaqueKatt and I'm addicted to reading...
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

That's kinda me too, only I'm usually making notes for my next birthday/Xmas/after either to use my book tokens.

I have no self control, so if I don't have the option of getting something for free (see above) then I'll buy what I want then & there.

In a tight spot you can resell the books... Not sure you can with the alcohol!

I've had folks tell me they go to B&N to get the titles & ISBNs so we can order them through the library for them . . . good for us, bad for them. At least they don't tell me they go to Lovely Local Bookstore and do that! I'd give 'em the stinkeye for sure.

How dare you! Books can not be resold. They are lovely papery goodness that feel wonderful and bring so much entertainment. Shame on you. While I love my Kobo, I would never give up my books. The worst punishment my mother ever gave me was giving away one of my books.

And I would like to add, my name is ozcatbug and I am addicted to reading...
