I love to read as well, and for the longest time was loathe to give up my preciouses. Partly because I did like to re-read some of them, and partly because the writer in me wanted to keep them as reference material or similar.

Then I realized just how much STUFF I have, and re-evaluated.

I have since cleared out a lot of books and DVDs from my room and given them to my mother, who puts them up on Paperback Swap or Swap A DVD. Those sites allow you to put a book or DVD up for grabs. Almost all of the stuff I've elected to give away has been taken, and Mom accumulates credit on the site she can use to get books or DVDs of her own, if she's so inclined. She gets a lot of positive feedback too, because the books and DVDs are in such good condition.

I even gave away some of my Discworld books (gasp!), which were claimed within MINUTES of being posted.

I've lost count of how many books I've acquired over the years. Still haven't read all of them but it's on my bucket list.

And then there's the other list of books I still don't have yet. *sigh*

Even worse, I don't have room in the house currently for all the ones I have already (need new bookcases for the boudoir, which I'll start getting next year.)

Throw away books? Only if they're worn out and coming apart and even then I usually find another copy of the same title to replace it with.

Um, wasn't this originally a thread about a SC scamming wifi from a gaming/comic book store?
Yeah, wifi's locked down for a reason. I felt bad asking for the wifi key at the gaming store I was actually shopping/playing at, mainly because I was there maybe once a month. At least the owner was a good guy about it.

And yes, I have a reading addiction too.

              Here to admit as well.

Addicted to reading, and I collect RPGs. (Pen & Paper)
By the Gods! I have found another. I'm just as bad for that. I even went out of the way to find, download and print a copy of the old Ghostbusters RPG at one stage....

              ....

Oh yeah. My name is Syriilord and I'm addicted to reading (and collecting Roleplaying Games)

If some place I go have free WiFi yay, less data used. If it's locked but they have it advertised as for paying customers only I'll either buy something or move along.
As to books? I have a weakness for buying books and try to get as many as I can as once. And yes, I have resold books and DVD's. If it comes down to selling a few books or going without food for a few days (until next payday or something) I'll sell the books I like the least (in other words: not my Harry Potter books or my mother's Lord of the Rings books from the 70's, and several other books and series).

I can identify with that. Sit at the table, don't have a book handy, there's always the cereal box. Alone at a restaurant & forgot my book? Menu, every word of it. And I can always find something in that old pitiful stack of magazines at the doctor, car mechanics, beauty shop or anywhere else I end up having to wait.

One of these days I'll have a 21st century phone & a data plan, sigh. All my current phone does is make phone calls - doesn't even take photos. How quaint.

I was reading at a restaurant once and realised I had been there for 20 mins without any of the staff approaching to offer me a menu/take my order/get me a drink. And it wasn't that they were hammered - there were only two other people and the wait staff were standing around chatting.

Apparently their excuse (once I finally caught someone's eye) was that since I was busy, they didn't think I would want to be disturbed. Yeah, 'cos I go to restaurants all the time just to read. I mean, who on earth would want to eat there?!

Then again, the trick to getting super-prompt service is to pull out a notebook and pen. Write something down, look around in a thoughtful manner, and write again. They will assume you are a restaurant critic and you find yourself with all sorts of benefits!
"Bring me knitting!" (The Doctor - not the one you were expecting)

My reading addiction is why I have a nook now. The books were taking over. Still are. I admit I sell the books I don't want anymore. It feeds the gaming, reading, anime, sounders habits.

I so look forward to getting a BN gift card from my wonderful grandma every year for Christmas.
