This morning I was at 7-Eleven to get a stamp. While there I noticed they were having a special on all King Size Hershey products. I decide to grab a Reese's. When I got to the register, they rang me up at full price so I asked them about it. I was told this doesn't count since it's Reese's and not Hershey. There was a line behind me so I didn't argue over the price difference. But the tag advertising the special did say "All Hershey products" with pictures of a Hershey bar, a Kit Kat and Reese's PB Cups.

They did, back in 1963.Quoth PepperElf View Postmaybe it's me but... um didn't Hershey's buy out Reese's back in the 60s?
Sounds like the guy at the counter somehow wasn't too familiar with the products. Either that or somehow when the price changes were being done, the Reese's got left out accidentally.
But everywhere else I've been, if the Hershey products are on sale, that includes the Reese's Cups.

At some retailers, that's true. At others, you can buy one and it'll ring up at half price.Quoth Aethian View PostI was always told that if it was for two items at a special price you had to get both or it would ring up at regular price.
This is especially true at my store with the BOGO items or anything that's a multiple (say, 3/10.00)
Once in a while we'll have an exception to that. Say if we're running a Buy More Save More sale on Coke 2 ltrs, they'd be 1 at regular shelf price - say it's $1.59, 2 for $.1.25 each, 3 for $.99 or 4 for $.89.
And this will be fully explained in the ad and on the POS signage on all displays and the shelf. Doesn't stop customers from being confused, however.Human Resources - the adult version of "I'm telling Mom." - Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (NCIS)

It's a marketing ploy often used to get people to buy more.At some retailers, that's true. At others, you can buy one and it'll ring up at half price.
Many stores will advertise things as say... "5 for $5" to encourage you to buy 5 of them, when really they're just a dollar each. but if they said "1 for $1" then people would tend to just get the 1 vs getting 5 etc.

They sure do, when I went to Hershey park I went nuts in the gift shop. I haven't been there in years but when I did go there was a MASSIVE candy section, I went straight for the Reeses'.Quoth Ophbalance View PostHershey owns the rights for sure.

I believe there're occasionally local ordinances involved as well. Which is why, when I decided on my main grocery store after moving several years ago, my first stop was the service desk - to ask them what their policy was.Quoth DGoddessChardonnay View PostAt some retailers, that's true. OK, there it goes again. That craving for a Reeses. I will most definitely be picking one up (or two
) tomorrow after work.
