  • Helped an older couple yesterday

Not so much as a sighting of suck...

Anyhoo, I was in the local Pat Catan's (a craft store chain) picking up a few things for various projects, and as usual, ended up looking at their model selection. Do I really need any more cars? Probably not.

As I'm standing there looking at models, an older couple came up, and was checking things out. They were having some difficulty deciding which one to get. So I offered to help them. Turns out, they were trying to help out a family from their church. This family had a house fire, and had lost everything That family had a 13-year-old, who loved to build things, including models. Keep in mind that I've been building models for over 3 decades, and I too would be devastated if my collection was destroyed. I picked out a few kits that I'd either built, or got good reviews on the sites and magazines. They picked out a Ferrari, some glue, and were happy that I could help them out. The woman hugged me, because I'd made her day, and then left.

Not even a second later, another woman came up to me and asked me where some craft item was. When I said that I didn't work there, she snarled at me

No good deed goes unpunished, huh?

    By the way, which Ferrari?

I'm glad you helped out the older couple. I hope the kid loves the model you and they picked out.

      3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
      4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

They were torn between the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti...and the 458 Italia. I have both of those kits, but only the 612 is nearly finished. Since I'd done that one, they bought it, some glue, brushes and paint. Sure hope the kid enjoys it!

Both worthy choices, though the 458 is definitely the prettier of the two.

Is it me, or is the Berlinetta a cross between those two?

Quite a few of the new Ferraris are very similar. They all share similar styling cues. Not really surprising, since Pininfarina styled them. Speaking of Ferraris, I have several that really need finished now--the 612, 458, an older 288GTO, 308, 348, 1980s TR, to name a few. I'd love to get my hands on a 330GT kit as well as an original Testa Rossa...but those kits are hard to find and very expensive now.

Do you think they may have thought you worked there?
As we all know here shop assistants often get snarled at.
