  • I just want some milk

I had to go to the store tonight for milk and peanut butter. I get home, sit the milk on the table while I stir my peanut butter since I buy the natural kind. I put the pb in the fridge and go to grab my milk and notice that it is leaking. I put my milk in another sack and head back to the store since they were going to close in 15 minutes and I needed milk for tomorrow.

I go to the young woman who rang me up earlier and tell her that the milk had a leak in it and that I didn't notice until I got home. I can't remember what she said or asked next but I held the bag up to show her. A few drops dripped onto the conveyor belt and she says "get that off of there." and immediately proceeds to spray and wipe the conveyor belt off. "Sorry." I say right before the other cashier asks me to put the milk into one of the other bags there. The first cashier then asks me, the one who rang me up 10 to 15 minutes ago mind you at a grocery store that is closing in 10 minutes and is not busy whatsoever:
"Did you buy the milk at this store?" "Yes. I was just here a few minutes ago." I say as I hold out my recipt. "I think I remember you." She says to me before saying I can go and grab another one.

So far, no big deal. Even though I was somewhat annoyed with her over what just happened. I head back up front after grabbing a new gallon of milk. She say it's ok and that I can just go. When I get up front and start heading for the exit she asks "wasn't that supposed to be a half gallon?" To Wich the other cashier quickly replied that is was in fact a gallon. "Well it didn't feel like a gallon." I then walk up to her and say "it's probably because most of it leaked out." She laugh a little when I said that and I just left.

I was mad thinking about it as I walked to my car. But then I thought maybe she is just stupid and lacks people skills. I mean, after all, she barely acnowledged my existence as she rang me up the first time. But I never saw her handle the milk when I bought it back. I bagged it myself. I don't think she could've had time to do anything with it since it didn't take long for me to grab another one and by the time I got back up front she had a customer. I am now starting to think she is just being completely rude just for the hell of it. Oh how I would've loved to have dumped the whole leaking gallon of milk on her but I'm too nice. I thinking about calling management instead in the morning. Sometimes I don't know what's worse, sucky customers or suck employees at other places.

    Update:
I called the manager and he apologized and said that shouldn't have happened. He said he will have a talk to her. In all the years I've returned items to a grocery store, I have never had anyone give me a hard time about it.
