  • Paid twice! whoops!

Bit of a cross between a sighting and a brain burp but we were the customers so it's here.

We've been trying to build a relationship with Awesome Local Bakery as a potential sponsor for the South 2 Derby team. So because of that, my BF made a point to order a dozen alcoholic cupcakes.

ALB is named such cos their cupcakes are fucking awesome. Especially the ones with booze in them.

Well we had a snag: we preordered (and paid) for the cupcakes but then forgot the rest of the stuff we were going to bring to South 2. So we postponed the meeting.

But then well, what about the cupcakes? We ate them of course! And I gave the landlady four of them with the rent check.

So I went to ALB to order another dozen for the next meeting and paid for them. ALB recognized the order and realized it was the same, so they were really pleased to have repeat business. My BF picked them up on Monday and... paid for them.

So that's the problem. He didn't realize I'd already paid for them and they forgot to note it down. However instead of a refund I called them up and asked if it was OK to just pick up a dozen cupcakes.

ALB said yes and that I could pick out the "artisan" ones, but to be honest neither my BF or I care. We know it was an honest mistake and realize it would be easier on them to just take the "refund" in product vs cash - cos it means business for them.

which is also why we aren't specifically asking for artisan cupcakes.

Oh BTW, and yes i told them this too - the second batch was awesome.
hey that's the other reason why we'd rather have cupcakes vs cash back.

(Actually the second batch was even better than the first. you could taste the booze still!)

You're evil, do you know that?

My mouth is watering reading this post, my gullet aching for the boozy cupcake goodness.

It really sucks for me I don't live in Your Town.

Nice move there! The cupcakes sound good aside from the alcohol bit (I'm a little young for it). I'd love to try some of them!

Now with images! well of the new ones that is.

Stopped over today to pick up the 12. The baker who was there was the one I paid originally and he apologized for the mistake. But everything was good. I told him how much we loved the cupcakes and that we scarfed down the leftovers and how strong they were (yum).

Then I picked out 12 to go: 4 Red Velvet, 2 Pumpkin, 2 Cookies & Cream, 2 something vanilla or lemon, 2 Banana Pudding

I picked both regular and artisan cupcakes cos they had quite a nice selection today. I skipped the caramel ones though cos my my BF doesn't like that flavor and really he's the one who paid for it.

                Hold the phone...

Booze and cupcakes? And no bacon involved.

I absolutely love it when shops have great customer service. It's such a rarity anymore. I hope this trend keeps up though because I've been hearing more and more good reports of independent stores being awesome.
