Now...texas is not known for them. In one day the town closest to mytown has had 36 accidents attributed directly to the cold front that brought icy conditions here. Very scary. And all of the schools are either closed or delayed. Sadly, mystore will be open tomorrow

we have a lovely wood stove that has an oven compartment and the top is designed for cooking upon. I like to keep a box of supplies for winter outages - I have 4 or 5 bags of 'multibean soup mix' 4 or 5 bags of orzo, dentili or acini di pepe pastas, 4 or 5 really large cans of plum tomatoes with basil, a bottle of italian herbs, dried minced garlic, a box of vegetable bouillion cubes and one of chicken cubes. We like a nice pot of vegetarian or chicken minestrone. In the winter we tend to keep around a few pounds of sopressata sausage to chop up and toss into the pot. Good hearty food, keeps burbeling on the back of the stove for a nice meal whenever.
