  • Watch Out for the Median

The other day, I was crossing the street from a health clinic to the hospital using the crosswalk. The cross walk has a concrete bump on both sides of the crosswalk in the middle of the street. There is enough room between the bumps and the sides of the street to get a truck through.

After I crossed the street, I heard the unmistakable sound of a car hitting something. I turn around to see this large sedan bounce off of those bumps. If I had to wait to cross the street 20 seconds longer, I would have been hit by that car. I'm just glad I went into the hospital as a worker and not as a patient.

That car is lucky it didn't get stuck on top of that thing - now that would be embarrassing.

Saw that happen a time or two back when I worked at the Lawndale store - there is a concrete median dividing the entrance into two lanes right off the Lawndale Drive entrance.

How a car could get stuck on that is beyond me - but got stuck lengthwise on it it did with all four wheels off the ground.

Took a tow truck to come get that one out.

In my town we actually had a mother and the baby she was pushing in a stroller struck by a drunk driver in the parking lot of a hospital. As can be expected, much outrage has ensued.

My first thought was "What the hell was a drunk driver doing in a hospital parking lot?"

Aaaand I'm so going to hell for what I thought immediately after that.

No. Absolutely not. I refuse to link TVTropes.

Apparently, she was having an argument with the boyfriend she was driving there.. They haven't said about what.

But if your thought was anything along the lines of who should have been going to the ER that night--or the morgue, even--then no, you're not going to hell.

Or at least you won't be going alone since I think all drunk drivers should be lynched for premeditated murder the first time they're caught.
