  • Almost got creamed today!

Coming back from dinner we're sitting at a red light, we start to go, but hear a vroom headed our way and look to the left. Slam our brakes, and a truck blows past going at least 60mph.
Everyone in the car would have been injured, and the driver possibly dead if we hadn't had the window down to hear him coming!

The guy just blew through the red light?

I guess no one caught a license plate number?

For dangerous drivers like that I'm pretty sure you can call the local police and tell them (there might even be a special phone code, like *66 or something? I swear I've seen something like that on highway signs)

Probably some trucker juiced up on meth or something.

Yesterday I saw a trucker nearly run two cars off the road here. He was in the left lane and then suddenly and rapidly changed to the right lane shortly before the point where the right lane peels off toward loop 12. If the lead car hadn't slammed on his brakes he and the car behind him would've been slammed by the trailer.

It wasn't a semi, it was like a Ford F150. Yes he blew through a red light.

I was close... in NJ, anyway, you can dial #77 to report dangerous drivers. I don't know if that applies to other states or not.

I saw something like that happen right in front of me a few years ago. I was waiting at the red light, behind a SUV. The light turned green, the SUV pulled into the intersection, and got T-boned by a car that didn't even slow down. He hit the SUV hard enough to rock it, and if that had been me in my little Saturn, I probably would have gotten rolled.

I grabbed my cell phone to call the cops, but then I saw they were already there. One of the cars in the crossroad was apparently an unmarked police car, because a uniformed cop stepped out and made his way to the wreckage. And the kicker is, the guy who caused the accident was standing there arguing with the cop.

Different states have different codes, and some don't have a reserved code. That's one thing that should have been established when cellphones became common - pick a single code (#77 for State Police, or #47 for Highway Patrol) as a nationwide standard.

Eventually he's going to blow a red when the wrong person is using the green. Ever see what happens when a little thing like an F150 T-bones a REAL truck? The guy in the F150 won't be the one walking away from the wreck.

No idea. I couldn't hear what was being said, but the guy's gestures and facial expressions looked like he was arguing.

I don't think so, but then I didn't stick around once I saw the police were already there. Looking back now, I probably should have given my name as a witness just in case.

Once saw a guy on a crotch rocket barrel through a red light and hit a Ford Bronco going through the intersection on the green light.

Hit the Bronco hard enough to tip it on its side. It was a full-size Bronco, the kind OJ Simpson got chased around Los Angeles in.

Never did figure out if the motorcycle rider survived. It didn't look good. He was lying in a pool of blood.
