  • There are RULES!

For how to behave when an Ambulance turns on it's lights behind you.
    Pull over
Wait till the ambulance is at least in front of you ((I believe it is supposed to be 500 feet... but I don't know anyone other than the Beau who does this))
    THEN go

So little old lady who almost killed me.... this does not mean honking at me for slowing down and holding you up. and it DOES NOT MEAN when the ambulance is parallel to you that you may go and in doing so almost REAR ENDING my car, then honking at me again! all this does is make me bitter and drive slower.

    thank you... that is all

People who don't pull over for emergency vehicles really annoy me. You would think older people would know better and not be in such a hurry...just goes to show you that SCs and their kin come in all ages.

I hate when you pull over for an emergency vehicle and when you attempt to pull back into traffic after it passes, the people behind you start whipping around you not letting you back in.

That really irks me as well.

The last time something like that happened, I was on my way to work (aren't I always?) and it was just blocks from the freeway....an ambulance with lights and sirens was wailing down the highway and I moved over and slowed down (because on a highway or busy street you pull over and slow down)......as the ambulance passed, everyone who was behind me just immediately began rocketing back up to speed again without even considering who was in front of them. Some of them actually started accellerating again before the ambulance was all the way past them!

blas, all your stories, especially the ones in this section, make me sooo glad I don't live in your town, although we have our share of EWs. A lot of them come from MI to go to oour precious mall and/or Bullseye store. I suspect they're the people going 90 in the 65, ignoring ambulances. (Maybe they don't have ambulances in backwoods-UP, Michigan.

I can vouch for Wisconsin drivers being as bad as Blas claims! All I can say is that I'm glad I got my first practical driving experience up there--made it a LOT easier to drive down here!

I saw someone who on a 4 lane (2 north 2 south) pulled to the right lane and paced a fire truck for almost a mile. I can only hope a cop was nearby and the FD radioed the idiot in.
