How Dare You Pass Me!

Another almost daily/nightly sighting...

Someone merges onto the freeway at some ridiculously slow speed.....anywhere from 40-55 mph when the speed limit is 65, or just someone who is driving really slow in general and completely oblivious to everyone scrambling to get around them.....

And it just always seems to happen that just as soon as I get in the left lane to pass them, they come to their senses and then attempt to rocket off and speed up so that I can't pass them.

Or even better.

I DO pass them, and just seconds after doing so, they ramp up and get on my bumper, then furiously blow past me, pass me, and then proceed to go back to toodling at a good 5-10 mph or more under the speed limit and if I even attempt to try to pass them again, they'll make it impossible.

Ah, I so hate that. The passing and then slowing right down again part. Hate it. I use cruise control so I never do that to the person behind me. And whatever happened to keeping a car length or two behind? I swear, sometimes you couldn't squeeze Lindsay Lohan between my car and the one on my bumper!

I had that happen recently. Soem jerk is going almost about 50 in a 65 with most people going 70-75. I pass idiot. Idiot attempts to pass me, and just hangs in the passing lane for several miles looking at me until I was able to pass the truck in front of me.

Many years ago, we were returning home from a vacation at Wisconsin Dells and wound up behind somebody driving like this--on a two-land road.

After a while, we finally were able to pass that stupidiot. That was the first time I ever saw somebody give somebody else the finger, because my mom gave the driver half the peace sign as we zoomed on by.

I had an idiot once think an interstate (that for some reason had a 75mph sign I believe) should be a max of 40mph. I passed them, then they passed me and tried to keep me from passing. When we ended up having a small group of vehicles (semis included) I finally was able to get around them.

Granted I had to go a lot faster than the speed limit -- but considering it was a danger not to do so, I figured the slow driving idiot would get pulled over before us.

At least on the interstates I've been on, down here in Hell Dixie, they list a minimum speed as well as a maximum. Unfortunately, the minimum is almost always 40, and although it's not a regular occurrence, I do sometimes run into idiots who think the way of the guy you mention, that it's the maximum speed.

Fortunately, I've not ran into any of the no-passers, so even my anemic-ass Caliber can get up to speed to get around them fairly easily.
