Pedestrian Entitlement?

I was driving along the road between the store and the parking lot. As I approached a crosswalk I noticed a couple to my right coming from the parking lot. They were about 10-feet from the crosswalk. The crosswalk being clear I continued through. I suddenly heard the couple YELLING and gesturing at me for not stopping for the, how dare I, they have right of way, etc.

Come on, I'm supposed to anticipate that they are actually going to the crosswalk and not their car, and I'm supposed to hold-up traffic until they get ready to cross?

Be glad they weren't the kind that step out in front of a car thats 5 feet from the crosswalk. They think, "they have to stop for pedestrians" ignoring the fact that you can't actually stop a car that quickly.
