I promised my bestie I'd post my little driving brain burp here.
I'm in my last stages of my teaching degree, and I'll be student teaching next spring. Student teachers have to go to their host schools and fill out background checks called CORI checks before we are allowed to teach in the schools
/backstory
So my friend and I jump in my car and drive off to the school, hoping to get the CORI done and then have time to do some holiday shopping (which was the only reason she tagged along).
I get to the school, find a space, leave the car running so my friend doesn't freeze, and park. Or so I thought.
Ten minutes later I come back to the car and my friend is grinning like an idiot. I ask her what's so funny and apparently I had put the car in neutral rather than park. She had climbed into the driver's seat and put it in park for me while I was inside.
I had no idea that I did that. I guess shifting gears is just one of those things I think I can do automatically. Guess not anymore. Thank god I had a co-pilot, or I would have slowly totaled my car.
She says the only reason she suspected something wasn't quite right was while she was watching the children playing at recess, she noticed the tree we were parked in front of was slowly getting closer, and she's pretty sure trees can't walk.
