But I'm not tailgating the person in front of me. I'm trying to keep a good distance between myself and the person in front of me. When I see a good opening, I try to pass.
Forget about any cars that may or may not be in front of you. My point is that the people that are tailgaiting you are thinking that you are going too slow.

My point is, whether or not you're tailgaiting anyone or not, you are thinking exactly the same thing as what someone tailgaiting you is thinking. However, the person that is driving the vehicle is in control of it and therefore, they are the best to judge how fast they can comfortably go.

I take my time in the snow. If the tailgaters want to fly down the road then they can go around me. It's mainly SUVs that I have problems with tailgating in the snow. Alot of them seem to forget that just because they can move more easily in the snow then me it doesn't mean they can stop more easily. I'm not saying all SUV drivers are like this of course.

Last year about this time the roads were slicker than snot. The speed limit was 35mph, I drive a 4WD Jeep and I'm going no more than 20mph when some jerk in a 2WD car starts to tailgate me. People are sliding to stops, sliding down hills and etc. and this moron wants me to go faster? No way! I eventually get in the left turn lane and the dude speeds by me going at least 30mph. The light turns red in the upcoming intersection and can you guess what happens? Yep he can't stop and slides right through. Luckily the other cars were slow getting started so he didn't hit anyone. Hope the dude peed his pants.
...I don't see why his car being 2WD makes any difference in this situation. Even if he was driving a 4WD vehicle, it wouldn't have let him stop any faster.
