Today, while heading to the post office to pick up a package the mailman didn't feel like delivering on Monday, I encountered several cars in the steadily falling snow who didn't feel the need to turn their headlights on. Two of them, driving behind me, were white. I could barely see them. ::sigh::

I had a '76 Volvo that did not have DRL.

As for the highlighted 55 on the speedometer that was a Federal requirement implemented in 1979 and ended in 1981.
My brother had a 72 Buick Century similar to this one, that had a seperate needle you could set so if you went faster than the setting, it would give a buzzer type noise. Several times I would set it about 60 (back when the highways were still 55), only to find it moved all the way to the top of the dial a few days later.

When I see cars with their headlights on during the day, I still tend to think that there's either a cop running radar up ahead or they were part of a funeral.
