Today, during my lovely, un-busy commute, I almost got killed twice.
The first time was at an intersection that seems to be a permanent "Zone of Stupidity." This intersection is just before a pair of lights for an interstate. The numbnuts drivers are so excited to be getting on the interstate, they completely miss the fact that my intersection even exists; this means they blow the red and t-bone poor victims all the time. In addition, people just do stupid stuff here.
Today there were two cars waiting to make a left on green. One was in the intersection, the 2nd car was not. The first one must have been texting or something, because she didn't clear the intersection until well after I had the green. The second one decided to follow, despite the fact the light was red well before she entered the intersection. I almost t-boned her.
After my Tuesday-morning run to the doughnut shop, I'm going north on a 50 MPH road, and find a minivan ahead make a left turn onto the wrong side of divided road. I guess she didn't want to go farther down on the correct side and make a u-turn. This is not a poorly marked intersection; the driver just decided to drive down the wrong side of the road so he/she could get to wherever it was she was going.
