  • Idiot driver gets owned. Villagers rejoice.

This happened about three months ago while I was driving to work.

The layout of the cars is such:

    Me

    White SUV

    Idiot in a red car

Some guy in a blue car

I'm in the back of the line of four cars.

Anyway, the genius between the SUV and the guy in the blue car decides that because Blue Car Guy is doing the speed limit, that gives him the right to pass him on the left. Despite the double yellow line in the road. So genius proceeds to gun it and easily passes Blue Car Guy.

What genius didn't realize is that the person in the white SUV was - wait for it - our town's chief of police driving his unmarked police vehicle. And genius just broke at least two driving laws RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.

Chief proceeds to pull over Genius. Now, our chief doesn't wear a uniform... he wears slacks/longsleeve shirt/tie. And he doesn't look a damned thing like Martin Brody, either... our Chief is about 6'2, solid as a brick shithouse, with a black buzzcut. As I passed, I could see him getting out of his SUV and he looked PISSED. And Genius looked scared shitless because in his good clothes, the Chief looked like a rogue FBI agent or something.

I see people break traffic laws all the time, but this was probably the best example of stopping an idiot in transit that I had personally witnessed.

Awesome. This morning when I was biking to work I saw a light turn green, and a white car pulling out into the intersection to turn left, while the grey car behind her was leaning on his horn because he wanted to go straight through. The white car was a parking enforcement vehicle and she was being slow because there were people crossing at the intersection where she was turning. I don't know if parking enforcement has any authority to do anything but write tickets, and nothing happened to impatient grey car guy.

Reminds me of when Hubby decided to pull a dumb stunt and pass a line of cars. The reason there was a line of cars? They were all driving careful do the the cop in front of them! Hubby was doing 80 on a 55 when they clocked him...by then he was slowing down.

Fortunately, the officer was very nice, seemed amused as he watched me rip Hubby a new arsehole , and knocked the ticket down to 19 over (20 or more is a felony ). Perhaps he felt that getting chewed out by me was punishment enough for Hubby (I still haven't let him live it down).

Well, you know... tickets go away eventually. Your wife doesn't. And if she does... she'll take half your stuff!

My other favorite thing was traveling down to Florida through areas where they are allowed to run speed enforcement and what not with unmarked patrol cars. Im glad it isn't allowed in Ohio, makes them easy to spot unless they hide good.

You all know the feeling when you see someone in a charger pulled of to the side of the road by the highway patrol with the officer standing at his window, it just makes you get this warm fuzzy feeling all over. To bad for the the idiot who ignored the state law to either slow down or more to the left when there is a stopped emergency vehicle. I really wish I could have seen the look on that drivers face when the charger floored it away from the other cop and flipped his lights and sirens on. conversation probably went "So you think it is ok to ignore the law if the officer has someone already stopped, don't you?"
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Down between Tacoma and Olympia (I'm sure they do it elsewhere, too), I ALWAYS see the police in pairs. One will have someone pulled over, and the other is hiding a little further down with the radar on. I guess they're trying to catch the idiots who figure if the cop's busy pulling someone over, they won't get caught.

A few years ago, I was waiting at a red light, with one vehicle in front of me, an SUV or something that was bigger than my little Saturn. The light turned green, the SUV pulled into the intersection, and T-boned by some idiot who apparently didn't want to wait and thought he could beat the line of traffic.

I grabbed my cell phone to call the cops, only to find they were already there. A few cars behind the idiot was a cop, who I'm guessing was off-duty because he was in a regular car, but in uniform. I couldn't hear what was being said, but with the way the idiot was flailing his arms wildly, it was obvious that he was arguing with the cop.

The scary part was realizing that if I had left just a little bit sooner, I could have been the one who got hit. And the SUV got hit hard enough to rock it for a second, I probably would have gotten rolled.
              Sometimes life is altered.
Break from the ropes your hands are tied.
              Uneasy with confrontation.
