  • Grandmas' Day Out...

Coming home today, by the intersection by the sucky Subway I post about a lot.

After Subway and where my mom works, there's a stop sign. The road is a T, you can only go left or right.

I'm in the right lane about to turn right. A white van is in the left lane.

Just as I am about to turn right, and thank the Lord that I am always leery of other people and watch what I'm doing....I'm seeing the van turning right alongside of me.

    WHAT the hell?!

I backed off, in case the van pulled another idiot stunt.....let it get a bit ahead of me, which was quite hard because whomever was driving was only going 15 mph tops down the road....

I got in for a closer look. The van was filled with bobbling, wobbling grey permed heads. Yay for a Granny day out.....

I just hope that crazy Grandma doesn't pull anymore of those stunts today and hurt anyone.

I have seen similar incidents at our lot exit. The realize it when the light turns green and try to cut across instead of making the turn, re-entering the plaza via the nearby entrance and getting in the correct lane.

That happens a lot around here, too.

In one place, there's three lanes in one direction. Two are left-turn-only, and the right-most is straight and right only. People will still go straight from the center lane (left-only) when they realize they didn't want to turn there. At least there are two lanes across the intersection, so they don't cause accidents.

In another place, there are two lanes, a right-only and a left/straight. Just beyond the intersection there is only one lane, for the straight traffic, since the right-only traffic should, you know, be turning right. All too often I'll start driving straight through the intersection only to have someone blow past me from the right-only lane and swerve to get in front of me before their lane turns into sidewalk. Nevermind that being forced to turn right there is not the end of the world. You just go around that block and back to the street you actually wanted. But instead, they nearly sideswipe me trying to correct their mistake.
