What is it about guys on bikes in my neighborhood?

So, I'm heading home the other day, and since we had to take an alternate route (doing a favor for the boss), we decided to swing by the local Jamba Juice and use up the last of our gift card.

So, I'm in the left turn lane, which has a signal assist, and the turn light has just turned yellow as I'm entering the intersection.

Luckily for this idiot, I'm one of those people who pays attention to everything around me or he'd have been paste.

He was coming up along the sidewalk and started riding through the crosswalk, directly into my path, even though there was still a red light for the crosswalk.

So, since I've spotted him already, I get as far into my turn as I can without getting close enough to be in danger of hitting him and then lay on the horn.

Considering the way he jumped, I suspect he'll behave a little better at intersections for a while.

[whoops, should have been in Roadkill. request to move sent]

Heh, it happens up north here, too.

Since I have to go through one major intersection on my way to work, I see this happening almost every day. People just dart out in front of moving traffic as if they had a death wish. They're lucky people stop in time.

Methinks they're taking advantage of the right-of-way. It's as if the lighted display with the huge red-orange palm doesn't apply to them.

I suspect that this dude was operating on autopilot and since there was a green light showing (never mind that it was in the shape of a left turn arrow), then it was clear to go.

I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Too bad there are no Red Light cameras for bikers and pedestrians.
