  • Delivery Driver FAIL

Last week I was planning on mowing the lawn. Low and behold no gas for the mower. No big deal I decided to run down to the gas station few miles down the road. The end of my street is at a curve in the main road, it can be hard to see traffic coming from the left.

Parked on the main road, just to the left are two delivery trucks making it completely impossible to see on coming traffic from the left. I was forced to make a right hand turn and go down a mile or so turn around and head to the station. I fill up the gas cans, and grand a few tings and head for home.

As I approach I see two cop cars stopped behind the trucks. I stop and a few minutes later they direct traffic thru. I forget about the incident but the next week they publish the police log in the paper.

It turns out due to the delivery trucks parking on a blind corner a minor fender bender occurred between two cars. The cops determine that it was the delivery trucks fault (duh) for parking around a blind corner and cite the drivers. One of the drivers decided to not sign the ticket and got arrested.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I have an issue with UPS, FedEx and so on, not only because of their crappy and insensitive parking (i've seen them block handicap spaces with and without cars in them), but the fact that can park anywhere without getting a ticket, and i as a newspaper driver can't (and i'm usually moving sooner than they are). That is except in Phoenix where my favorite parking enforcement lady tickets anything, she nailed UPS and FedEx one day, and was trying to figure out how to ticket a postal truck that was there also.

I have seen UPS deliver packages to one of the three houses on this corner. If it is small they will usually park on my street and walk it over. These morons were driving larger box trucks that deliver furniture, appliances, etc. They were both unbranded and all white with just the required DOT stuff.
