Before I started working at this store, I had never in my life seen anyone ticketed or otherwise reprimanded for parking in firelanes, at least not by anyone with the authority to do so.
Since coming here, I have seen and heard first hand accounts of quite a few people who were ticketed for parking in the firelane in front of our store.
Today, I saw it happen again, and let me tell you, the stupid was STRONG with this one.
I went across the street for pizza on my dinner break, and when I came back I noticed three cruisers parked right by the doors of the anchor store of our plaza. As I parked and started walking back in I saw two more cruisers pull in (without lights or siren). Obviously something happened down there, but I don't know what.
In any case, not long after punching back in I noticed that there was a car parked almost directly across from our doors in the firelane.
Not long after THAT I saw a guy bolt out the entrance door. Turns out it was the owner of the vehicle, and there was a cruiser right behind his car. I looked out the window just in time to see the cop hand him the parking ticket.
I honestly dont' know what this guy was thinking. He must have noticed that the lot was pretty much swarming with cops (this is a small plaza), yet not only did he decide to park int he firelane, he then came in and started making copies.....a lot of them. It's no wonder he got a ticket.
