So i'm driving to work this morning and i get to a stoplight that's no turn on red and i have to make a right hand turn.

a bit of ways out from the light it starts to turn and i consider gunning it to make it but... eh, screw it i'll wait.

So I slow down and when I get to the light it's red and I come to a complete stop.

One second later I hear a woosh sound and realize... some idiot chose to gun the light from behind me... even though it meant having to take the left-turn-only lane to get around me and go straight through the intersection.

idiot was lucky the other traffic hadn't started yet but... yeah that light was red before i stopped so it was damn sure still red when he zoomed through.


i told mom and she said he was probably from buffalo. (bit of a joke there in the family... a lot of drivers in buffalo run the red like that) so whenever a driver is really good (or cleans the foot of snow off of the roof of the car we claim they're from rochester or syracuse)

I can attest to the fact that they were probably from Buffalo. I was waiting at the bus stop at the corner by my house and counted no less than 10! cars that blew through an obvious red light. about 5 more were questionable.

When I first moved to this state, I used to get ticked off at all those (rural) dumb drivers that would slow down at the top of hills. Jerks!

Now, I are one.

See, idiots moving here from California would pass on a blind hill, at 60+ mph (too fast for a gravel road anyway). So now I hit the top at about 20, because it's better to be going that slow when you have a head-on with some jerk doing 60.

Argh. People should have to take a driver's test in a simulator. One crash, and the bus stop awaits.

personally, think all intersections should have traffic cams. ya run it, ya get a ticket in the mail. maybe then people would stop blowing through reds.

this just happened to me. I thought it was yellow when I went through (and I didnt want to slam my breaks) but *picture snap* sure as shit wasnt 700$ seems a bit excessive though. Every other red light in town says its a 350$ fine.

yeah and later that week .. .on the same road, but the next intersection to the south... another person did something similar.

I don't usually see it at lights, but there's a four way stop by my house with stop signs, and going up the road, most people shove right through that stop sign without bothering to slow down. and we have lots of kids on our street.
