  • U-turn Craziness

This driver was from out of town (actually, out of country, even), and they were probably trying to find the Interstate. That's my guess, anyways, 'cause every time they went anywhere but towards the Interstate, they did a U-turn. (In the lost traveler's defense, our on/off ramps are nuts. This junction was especially fubared, each on and off ramp is on it's own street. No two are closer than two blocks together. From the northernmost on ramp to the southernmost on ramp, it's about a quarter mile.)

Picture a 4-way intersection. You have road to the North, East, South, and West.

I'm on the North leg, when I see this driver turn into the North road (coming towards me) from the East road. Suddenly, he does a U-Turn right in front of me cutting me off!!! and heads back to the intersection. He turns West, as do I. Very quickly, he does another U-turn back towards the intersection! (As more cars he cut off honked at him, of course.)

So, he went East, North, and West from this intersection. I suppose he's using process of elimination to find what he's looking for? (If he was lost looking for the Interstate, that would have been South, so perhaps he eventually found it?).

I was thinking that, too. Come to think of it, the motel is in what I dub a "GPS Black Hole." It never shows up right on anyone's GPS (Mine places us across and up the street at a burger joint...others show us on the completely wrong side of the Interstate). I guess it's possible other addresses in the area have the same issue. Still, it was something crazy to watch!

I was looking for a hotel that my GPS placed 2 miles away from where it actually was. The actual address was something like Place Street, but the listing in the GPS was for Place Avenue.

My GPS has .. issues also (I need a better one). Tried to tell me the Holiday Inn nearby was 3 miles further then it was.
