so in my fair city we have some areas with signs that state "no turn on red between 7am-6pm"
I was on my merry way home after purchasing some slightly pretentious instant powdered beverage(dandy blend if you must know), and came to an intersection with such a sign. I look up and ho! the walk light is on-yay! I give a wave and smile to the stern looking officer in his SUV waiting patiently at the light in the left turn lane-he waves back, still looking stern, and I commence to traversing the roadway.
I have made it to the half-way point when, bother the don't walk light is now flashing...must scurry to clear...scurry..scurry...SCREECH! Oh hello Mr. impatient in the right turn lane, you weren't there when I started crossing, no worries let me just get up onto the curb here....wow you just gunned it turning onto the "main drag" the nanosecond I cleared your bumper.....but wait...the light is still quite crimson in hue.
Oh look Mr impatient, Mr. surly officer is also moving before the light turns, and turning right...from the far left lane...would you look at that the traffic light isn't the only red light you get to see today.....I would've stuck around but alas I had instant beverage goodness to prepare......
oh and FYI Mr. impatient....just because you don't see the police SUV because of your rate of speed approaching the intersection; and the minivan between you in the right turn lane, and him in the left turn lane-it does not mean he doesn't see and hear you....
