  • driving ... self-sighting x 2 (with a gross warning)

    1) pissed off someone the other day... i pulled into what i thought was a little-used side entrance to a crappy plaza. on the way in i saw a mini carnival being built.

    me: pauses to gawk.
driver behind me: HONK! much failing of arms.
    me: waves to other driver!

kinda like saying a giant "HIIIIIIIII!" to someone who hates you. so i was rubber necking at a carnival. ... you won't get a heart attack. so stop acting like you're having one.

2)gross warnings in this one i think i was honked at twice. either that or i hit my own horn...which was entirely possible.

went out to buy some jeans and maybe new undies at walmart... with a migraine. thought i'd already gotten rid of most of it (aka puked up) before i left home. but apparently not. so i had to pull off to the side of the road for a few minutes (to spit my mouth-full of vomit into the car-trash-bag and then let the rest of it out too). after that i felt... not great but better...ish. tho by the time i got to walmart i felt a bit better.

and on a side note. on the way home i stopped off at a yard sale. picked up a nice coffee table .. nothing special but... 4 bucks, and it's exactly the size i wanted. woot.

and thankfully the migraine is all gone. tho i'm eating blandly for the rest of the day.
(and thankfully... you know german potato salad doesn't taste bad the second time. i've tasted worse.)

for those of you who just got sick

I have no idea what you look like, but do you have hair long enough that you fasten it back at all?

I don't get headaches much at all, but if I have my hair tied back or up and it's pulled tight, that will give me a headache that leads to me being sick every time.

o no. my hair is short.

the headache was most likely from sleeping in too much and too much time on the computer.

tho ... i'm hoping it's unrelated cos i dont wanna deal with this yet but... pre-menopausal migranes run in my family.

Well, if you get headaches from the computer, make sure your set up is as eye friendly as possible.

The top of the screen should be about eye level and the screen should be about an arm's length from your body. Also, there should be nothing that can reflect off of it.

Don't forget to let your eyes relax. Every 15-20 minutes you should look away at something far away. This allows your eyes to relax, as it uses the muscles to be able to see close.

If your eyes don't shift focus immediately, then shift your focus from near to far until there's no real time between shifts before going back to the computer stuff.

Also, make sure you don't let yourself get dehydrated.

Those all trigger tension headaches involving the neck and cranial muscles. Migraines are neurological in origin.

Welcome to my world! I'm 4th generation on my mom's side with them. Although I've found a way around them, Lybrel. It's a continuous birth control pill that completely stops your period, which stops the hormone dump that was triggering mine. It's been over a year since I've had one. Don't miss 'em one bit.

I'm lucky in that the migraines that run in my family seem to have missed me entirely.

My mother and aunt (twins) both get them, as does my brother.

I've gotten severe migraines since I was a wee lad.

I feel your pain. 24 years and it's still some of the worst pain I've ever felt.

Funnily enough, my migraines stopped completely when I started taking my anti-epileptic medication...

Also, make sure you get checked for allergies by a doctor. My dad had bad migranes for a while, and it turned out he had a citrus allergy. He stopped eating stuff with citrus fruit in it and the migranes stopped completely.

There's a couple that are used as prophylactics for migraines: Depakote and Tegretol being two. I used to take the former, until it stopped working, and now take the latter, and it seems to work fairly well (so far).

I have horrible migraines. Weather changes, usually a drop in the pressure, trigger them. Sometimes tension headaches trigger them. Sometimes chocolate. *sigh*
