  • Learn how to f***ing STOP!

So I almost became roadkill today. I and my friend Amanda.

We were crossing the street to go to another building on campus. It wasn't dark yet, although it wasn't bright noon, either. We were very easily visible. And we waved to both sides of oncoming traffic, making sure we could be seen.

Well, we were halfway across before some moron who SAW us like 200 feet back only decides to put on the brakes because a passenger in her car yelled at her to stop. We came THIS CLOSE to getting hit. Stupid fucking bitch, you're on a school CAMPUS, you were SPEEDING, and it was really fucking obvious you had to stop for people in the crosswalk! What is wrong with you?

    So shaken up by that.

And then I had to go to dance class right after. I'm so sore right now.

That's one thing public safety is good for. They love waiting for people who speed through campus or drivers who don't yield at the crosswalks. I'm glad the stupid girl stopped...walking through campus is scarier now that there's snow on the roads.

It's the law where I live that you have to stop at crosswalks. There are many of them on campus where I teach. Traffic gets a bit heavy in the mornings with students going to and from their cars.

I always stop at the crosswalks, and I'll slow down for the jaywalkers too--the few seconds just isn't worth someone getting hurt.

Every now and then I'll glance in the rearview and watch the person behind me gesticulating over all my stops.

Sorry dude, can't help it. It is what it is.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

zibmai: We didn't think of public safety! But Amanda's the only one who could recognize the bitch's car [since it was RIGHT next to her >.<], and...well, oh well. I hope it scared the shit out of her, though. Maybe then she'll realize she needs to slow down and STOP for pedestrians!

Panacea: It's the law where I live, too. And it's like...even more so when going through the university campus.

And exactly...hey, it sucks that so many people are idiots about not crossing in the crosswalk or not even looking...

However, we did. Apparently we were supposed to run across the street. Over the ice.

Hrm. Told my mom today and she said all she could think was that it was deliberate. Lovely. What did I ever do that deserved almost being run over?

And then she was like, "I would have gotten the license plate number."

...Really? Or mightn't you have been in so much shock that OMG YOU ALMOST GOT HIT that you wouldn't have thought of it? Cuz that was my mindset. Wish I'd gotten the number, or perhaps punched the bitch out, but...

I'd have been tempted to jump out of my car and scream at her "DID YOU WANT A MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE??? 'CAUSE I'M A WITNESS!"
