  • My car was broken into AGAIN

this is the third time my car has been broken into. they smash in the same rear vent window on the rear passanger side. The first two times I understood why they did it. I left the faceplate on my 10 year old BROKEN radio, so they saw goods, saw my car was too old for an alarm, and attempted (ATTEMPTED! they didn't even succeed) to steal it.

This time though, I wasn't even near my house where it got broken into twice before. I went to one of my friends concerts to see him play for the first time. when I came back to my car I noticed right away my car was broken into again. same window, same side. I open my door to see that only my back door was unlocked... odd. then I see why. apparently Mr. Dumbass didn't check to see if I even had a radio. My faceplate was off (in my glove compartment) and Mr. dumbass broke into my car before checking, saw no radio, and then left. he didn't disturb anything. didn't look for any money, or any goodies in my trunk or glove compartment. if he did he would have found the faceplate. but the stupid bastard just didn't plan ahead and cost me 91 bucks.

I love this city, but it sure is trying real hard to make me hate it.

That's why I'm glad our '08 Impala SS has On Star.

If they steal it they will NOT get away with it!

A car with onstar has it in their cd/radio player too? I thought those were only inside the car if the whole car was stolen. no one has attempted to steal my whole car, just the radio.

Only if it's a stock radio.

Maybe you ought to leave the faceplate off.

I do, hense is why the third time it was broken into was so odd and stupid. my cd player didn't have the faceplate on it. so the guy broke into my car, saw my radio faceplate missing, and then left.

Glad my 13YO car only has a tape player. That sucks though; are you sure it was attempted theft and not just blatant vandalism? Maybe someone has it out for you?

If that were the case they wouldn't have just broken the small window in the back and unlocked my one door. they would have just smashed as many windows as possible or scratched my car up good. no, I'm pretty sure the jerk just broke into my car before checking to see if my CD player was even there. plus I don't think I have any enemies here. the 2 times it was broken into i left my faceplate on and was in my neighborhood. the last time I didn't have the faceplate and I was accross town. so really the last time was just the other guys dumbassery and my bad luck.

Some a$$clown attempted (and failed) to break into my wife's Jeep Wrangler about ten years ago.

The thing has a soft top and plastic windows. The rear windows unzip from the oustide! How on earth do you FAIL to break into the thing, you might ask?

By ignoring all the obvious weak points and try and pry the window away from the convertible top. You fail at this, but still manage to damage the window and top sufficiently to require their complete replacement. ($2500, covered by insurance.)

The only key you need to get into a soft top Jeep is a sharp knife. That's why I never lock the doors to my Jeep. I do lock the Tuffy center console. No one's ever broken into the Tuffy, but they have taken things out of the glovebox (which has no lock, and hence I keep nothing there I care about losing).
