  • Yes, go through the barricade to an icy death

OK, hyperbole there. We did just have an ice storm/blizzard. A big chunk of my street is blocked off and there were work crews there this morning, probably to take care of ice or road damage or power lines or some such. I was just coming up the cross street right by the barricade and turned left, so it was in my rearview mirror. I saw some other car go in the little space between 2 of the boards, after he had decided to turn around and go another way, but then changed his mind and decide to take the risk. Called it in simply for the concern for his safety. Seriously, dude, decide to take the right action and then change your mind and do the wrong thing. Explain it to the cop now, K?

A couple years ago, the were doing work on the intersection near my workplace. They were also resurfacing the pavement and had it down to the sand underneath. One night someone in a truck decided to ignore the barricade. ....

the front tire was good foot from the sand on the bottom and the truck was bottomed out over the pavement. It was pretty awesome.

I've seen similar things here when roads get flooded. At least once a year it seems, one of the major roads between [Our City] and [Nearby Town] gets flooded out, and there's always at least one idiot who makes the news by driving around the barricades and getting stuck...
