  • When you point a finger, three point back at you...

Had a real...special driver on the road yesterday. Octogenarian pulled out of a driveway and was travelling in the right lane. We were well established in the left lane and were about to overtake him, since he was not up to speed.

The other driver started to swerve into our lane. No signals. No turning to check his blind spot. Hubs was about to lay on the horn, when the guy suddenly corrected, and then he honked at us!

We passed him. Later down the road at a red light he caught up to us, and as he came up behind us he honked again! He scowled at us as he passed. Dude, you almost ran into us and then get all hurt like it's our fault? Since I couldn't easily express that sentiment on the road, I merely flipped him the bird, which perhaps makes me a little sucky, but I was hella pissed at that point and didn't care.

My brother used to complain about elderly drivers on the road. I thought it was just the prejudice of youth, but in recent years, I have to admit, he's got a point. Some of those older fogies just cannot drive worth spit, either because they flunked driver's ed or they just don't care and think that because they're golden oldies they're entitled to the whole road so the rest of us better watch out for them.

More likely, it's because their senses are dulled and reflexes are slowed with age and some seniors don't want to admit they're not what they used to be. Like the Sudden Death song says, "damn, it sucks to get old!"
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.
