Dances with firetrucks

As I was leaving a parking lot today, I saw a fire engine roll by, lights on and sirens blaring. As I waited for traffic to clear, I watched the truck going down the street.

Several blocks down, it came up behind two cars. The firetruck layed on the horn. One car pulled over, but it quickly became apparent that the other car wanted to make a left turn and wasn't pulling over. It looked like he might have actually sped up to try and make his turn before the firetruck got there.

Car turned into a mobile home park. The firetruck was on his ass the whole way, horn blaring, as it also turned into the mobile home park...

Firetrucks, Ambulance, etc you get out of the way of. Firetrucks, however, especially so. First..they are much bigger then the average vehicle. As I've said before..See the Mass..respect the Mass. Sirens mean you give them the right away, mass just helps enforce that

Because their few seconds shaved off making that turn is much less important than whatever task the fire truck, ambulance or police may be dealing whit (in their own mind).

The mentality of "sure someone many be trapped in a burning building, but hey, it's not me so I don't care" pisses me off so much.
