Especially when you have to stop, and end up like Colonel Hathi.I am not an a**hole. I am a hemorrhoid. I irritate a**holes!

I had a moron honk at me several times for not pulling out of the strip mall parking lot. I was stopped on a slight incline, on a mix of snow and ice trying gt pull out on to a road covered in snow and possibly ice.
Yes, I am going to wait until i know I have enough time to pull out because I know traction WILL be a issue.

Thank you. I had someone in your situation without such forethought just a couple of days ago. Waited for the car in front of me to go, then pulled out in front of me, effectively cutting me off. They're lucky I found traction on the road and was able to stop, because they were literally crawling due to conditions. Just because a maneuver would be perfectly feasible in dry weather does not mean you can pull the same stunt with slick roads.Quoth mattm04 View PostI had a moron honk at me several times for not pulling out of the strip mall parking lot. Not everyone who is "used" to snowy places is good at driving in it.
Trust me. I've lived here my entire life, and it seems as time goes on, people get more and more overly confident and less and less skilled.
All it takes is one dusting of snow and everyone's in the ditch.
Of course, it also doesn't help that every passing year, the budget gets worse and worse so they cut corners with the street cleanup. You really need to see a neurologist. - Wagegoth

And it's not exactly a *new* law either. This is NY. Perhaps you missed the memo (posted all over our interstate system) that it's the law to have your headlights on when your wipers are going.
I remember my parents talking about that one back in the late 80s.
In fact I'm not even sure my current state has a law like that. I just got so use to it from NY that it's second nature.
