  • That Was [Almost] Wicked Cool!

The road I live on goes up and over a drumlin. It's not high, maybe 30-40 feet, but it's pretty steep on both sides. There is no flat spot at top. You go up and then you go down. Like the top of a roller coaster hill.

I don't know what the grades are. They're over 10% but probably less than 20%. The side I'm on is the less steep side. Luckily I live at the bottom and don't have drive up this thing in winter.

Unfortunately this hill is a temptation to people wanting to try something stupid.

For example, running a pickup truck up the other side going fast enough to get airborne at the top. I'm not sure what the driver expected the result to be. I don't think he was expecting to glide too far to the left, hit the embankment, land crooked and run over his own front bumper after it fell off.

We could tell he wasn't expecting that because of the amount of dismay he was, expressing at the top of his lungs in front of our house after he had managed to coax his truck down the hill.

Yeah, it was one in the morning and we should have been annoyed but we were enjoying the free entertaintment.

    [Obviously, nobody was hurt. ]
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

By any chance, did this truck have a horn that played Dixie?

There's a couple of bits of road near where I stay you can do the same thing, one is in the middle of a straight you can see for miles on a very quiet road.

Great for hire cars , Not so great to a 30 foot hire van.

I don't know, he doesn't strike me as being smart enough to learn a lesson. He'll probably try it again as soon as he gets his truck fixed.
