  • What the Hell is Wrong with my City?

Really, what's wrong with it? I want to know.

Just recently there was a news report on parking in the downtown area. Now, apparently, some people have spots they're not using. So, as per capitalist principles they decide to rent them out. Reasonable, given that the price of parking in our core is absolutely balls to the wall crazy.

Well, apparently there is a bylaw against it. This has been going on a long time but they suddenly decided to clamp down and a lot of people got threatening letters. You have to wonder why. If someone in the core owns a condo, and they have a spot they're not using it, leasing it out is a favor to the city! I don't understand the logic...

Simple, if they do that, the city doesn't make money. Wouldn't want that to happen, now would we?

      Yup, that sounds about right!

Bingo. Fastest way to piss off a government is to threaten their income.

*sigh* Probably true... although on the busiest days of the summer, you simply can't find parking in the core. Most of the time you can though, at usurious rates. So that's likely a lot of the logic. How I hate them...
