  • Oh you thought you were being so clever!

I got major satisfaction from owning this idiot!

<bg>So at the moment a large section of the A1 in the North of England is being converted from dual carriageway to motorway, so from 2 lanes to 3. It's a hugely long section with a 50mph limit on it and average speed cameras all the way along it, it's been like that for as long as I've been driving (nearly 2 years) It goes back to Dual Carriageway after the roadworks and my turning for my town is about 5 miles from it.</bg>

I do this section quite a lot because it's the main road past my town. Consequently I know where the last speed camera is on it before it goes back to the 70mph limit.
Was driving North the other day, and passed the last speed camera, the road was pretty empty so I sped up and overtook the car in the left lane.

Apparently this chav guy did not like being over-taken by a girl in a tiny Yaris at all. I had a bit of speed on him and I'm back in the left lane when I see him coming up behind me. He pulls in the right lane and I get some standard rude gestures. As this is happening I come up behind a lorry and have to drop down to about 60, this idiot slows down to stop me from pulling out in the right lane (holding up some traffic behind him now) to over take the lorry. He's mouthing some stuff and I can see his mate jeering because they think they've got one over on me by making sure I'm stuck behind a lorry.

Imagine his face as I wave bye to him not 20 seconds later as I pull off onto the sliproad to my town

This story jogged my memory of a moment of satisfaction:

Last Wednesday, going to work. I just got past the School of Sucky Parent Drivers unscaved . After that, there's an intersection where I have to stop for the red light. Two cars ahead of me, and a pickup truck immediately behind me with about 4-5 cars behind him.

Light turns green, both cars go, so do I. I give the car ahead of me 2 car lengths, which seems to make the truck driver upset, so he starts tailgating.

About 4 blocks from the intersection there is a gas station on the left-hand side. The car in front of me signals to turn into the station and has to stop for oncoming traffic. I stop, maybe just a tiny bit fast , and the truck behind me stops. He then gets the idea of using the right shoulder to pass - unfortunately, as he starts, the car ahead of me is able to make his turn.

I'm able to go, and so is the lane of cars behind me, leaving the truck stuck on the shoulder.

Gosh yes, how selfish of me not to take that into consideration!

You just reminded me of a similar situation years ago. This ended a little differently. I was behind a garbage truck while some sap I'd passed earlier was pacing me to rub it in that I couldn't overtake the truck.

I dropped speed because, well, more room between me and the smelly garbage and also I saw something he didn't. The garbage truck's turn signal. The fool kept pace with me and, because I'd dropped back a bit, the garbage truck had plenty of space to safely change lanes and move in front of him.

The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

Please tell me you maintained speed and kept the fool boxed in behind the garbage truck.
