  • My car had a cloaking device woohoo

While waiting in a parking lot for a truck to pull out little did I know my klingon cloaking device kicked on.
The truck did a standard 90 degree turn and ended up facing in the same direction as us.
Then for no reason it backed up over 1 car length and plowed my driver side quarter panel.
When I saw it getting too close I tried to honk but was only hitting the air bag - by the time I found the little horn button it was too late.
Must have been because the loaner car I was driving was bird of prey green metallic he didn't realise he had hit us.
He then proceeded to pull forward and pulled off our entire front bumper - Yay that seemed to disable our cloak the honking and crunching of metal and plastic shattering might have helped too as he finally noticed us.
I was able to reattach the bumber with a bungee cord he had in his truck bed and the damage could have been alot worse.
Sucked that the repair shops loaner car got plowed into while they were fixing ours but seeing as how accidents in Canadian parking lots are no fault we still get popped for someone else not paying attention.

Don't you just hate when people instal those cloaking devices and not tell anybody? I swear every vehicle I've had..no matter how big (in fact the bigger, the better the cloaking device seems to work) it is.

Since your car was not in motion he's 100% at fault, and your claim would be for comprehensive, not collision.

Good to know - I was worried we would end up holding the bag on that.

BTW, this is the sort of thing that led me to install a dashcam.

Who wants to make up a bumper sticker of old Wile E. Coyote giving the Roadrunner a nice warm handshake (around the neck) saying:

"BEEP! BEEP! yurrazz! I said NO cloaking device!"

Bet it would sell like hotcakes at all the truck stops.

I have one big battleship-grey luxury brand car with multiple (OE) lights up front, & several smaller 70s (European) compacts in suitable colours of the day and matching period crappy lighting - want to guess which gets ignored more often? That's right, the one that weighs twice as much as the others & will do significantly more damage if you keep getting your ass in the way!

Amazing what happens in parking lots. A couple years ago the day before my wedding, my parents went to town to get a few groceries and while inside someone backed into my dad's truck. And my dad is the sort who will park at the back of the lot, so he doesn't get hit. Well they hit him and left. Someone saw it happen and got the vehicles details. Turns out is was some guy driving one of his work's company vehicles. He said he was going to pay for the damage out of his pocket but never did so Mom and Dad's insurance company said to not worry, they'd make sure his insurance paid for 100% and took care of it.
