    Merging onto the freeway was a disaster. Traffic was at a standstill. For over a mile.

    The reason? An accident, maybe? The usual, someone hauling something not secured down in their truck?

    No.

    Someone got pulled over.

    And that caused one or two people in the immediate vicinity to slam their brakes to a complete and total stop and back up traffic for several minutes.

    If there's a cop standing by the side of the road talking to his catch, I would hope that traffic would slow or, as is required around here by law, change lanes so that one full lane is between the driving car and the cop car. That'll slow stuff down too.

    But yeah, I know the kind of drivers you mean, who STOP whenever they see something odd. Way to be observant. Now train your reactions properly so you don't cause an accident. :P I did that when I was a new driver. Lots of people never grow out of it.

      indeed. pulling to the other lane is the law here. but outright stopping is just dangerous unless you're stopping because you have to (i.e. like a body in the road etc)
