    Ignoring the crossing guard

So Hubby, BFF, and I went to the tulip festival today. The way it's set up at Roozengaarde (one of the tulip growers) is that parking is on one side of the road, and the gardens are on the other. They have a crossing guard who will stop traffic so pedestrians can cross. You have to wait a bit, though, since he tries to gather as many as he can so everyone crosses at once.

We were leaving the gardens, and waiting at the crosswalk behind a few other people. On the parking side were others waiting to cross. The crossing guard was holding his stop sign facing the pedestrians. A car was approaching, though still a ways off, and the guard was starting to signal the car through.

All of a sudden, a woman in front decides she's had enough of waiting, and begins to cross. The people on the parking side see her crossing, and decide they are all going to cross as well.

Me: "What the hell is wrong with people not following directions?"

The guard turns and sees the people. He quickly stops signalling for the car to come through, and puts out his stop sign. We cross.

A man, presumably the first woman's husband, runs up to her. I don't hear what he says, but as we passed, I heard her say "But there were no cars coming!"

Um, there was a car, and even if there wasn't, the crossing guard has a system down to get everyone crossing at once and so you need to follow the guard's instructions! Sheesh!

    Four-wheeling through the fields

Earlier, when we parked, one of the parking attendants joked that we couldn't go four-wheeling through the field next to the parking. "I know you want to; I see that look in your eye!" (I have a small little sedan.)

Then, he explained that someone actually had tried to do that earlier in the day!

And here I thought the one ignoring the crossing guard was gonna be the driver of a car.
A pedestrian ignoring the crossing guard's stop sign? So dumb.
