  • There's a reason why your lane is "no passing"

Almost had a head-on collision yesterday (my bf was driving)

We were going around a curve in the road where OUR lane had the broken line but the opposite lane had a solid.

In the other lane one car was pulling off to the side, but the car behind them decided it wasn't fast enough and started to go around them. The thing is... that curve is also on a small hill. Our lane has a great view for passing but his lane... nada. oh... and in a 45mph area.

my BF had to pull to the right sharply to avoid an accident.

if the guy had just slowed down long enough to let the other car pull off there wouldn't have been any problems. but nope, he just had to get around.

Eventually, that jerk is going to learn 2 things:

1: You DO NOT make sharp manouvers in a big rig, even to avoid a collision, due to the high probability that the manouver will roll you over.

2: In the event of a 45 MPH head-on between a car and a big rig, both drivers will have to explain their actions. The trucker will have to explain things to his safety director. The car driver will have to explain things to Saint Peter.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

With one exception.... no rigs / truckers involved in my story

the two vehicles going the other way were ... a sedan (car in the front) and iirc a pickup truck behind him (the pickup was the one that swerved into our lane to pass)

around here the truckers tend to be smarter than that.
