  • Yield Includes To Pedestrians

I approached a left turn yield on green at a light. I had the green but a pedestrian was crossing in the crosswalk preventing a left hand turn. I waited. The truck behind me laid on his horn and then flew around me into the intersection--only to discover that he could not turn without running over the pedestrian. He ended up sitting in the middle of the intersection throughout the red light when it changed making the traffic swerve around him.

When will people realize that just because they cannot see the obstruction from where they are doesn't mean that there is no obstruction.

I can sort of sympathize with the horn honking (there's never really an excuse for leaning on it outside of impending accident, but a "hey, wake up" honk is okay in my book), but not the flying around you part. Most of the times I've come up behind someone sitting still at a green light, it's because they weren't paying attention and as soon as I honked, they went. So I can understand the "hey, wake up" honk if they can't see the obstruction. But when does illegally swerving around someone ever help?

When did you start driving in my neighborhood? When I walk to work, I have to cross a busy street, and the left-turn traffic almost never yields! Never had anything quite this bad happen, though.

Though once, I heard honking, and more honking. The guy turning right was getting honked at by the guy behind him, who was also leaning out the window shouting at the poor driver letting me cross. And I know that jerk could have seen me...if he'd bothered to look at anything past the bumper of the car ahead of him.

Yep, happens to me all the time at the stop signs in the crosswalks around my mall. People go around me and either screech to a halt or careen around the people who were in the middle of crossing. I either try to wave at them to stop, or chase them down and yell at them!
