  • Your Intimidation Attempt Failed

So I went to do a little shopping/browsing after work and on my way back home, ran into this bit of Suck on the roads.

I was coming up to a 4-way stop intersection. I'd intended to turn right and take a 'back' way back home, but soon realized that the two-lane stop ahead was not, in fact, two lanes wide, but that it shrunk down into one lane.

At the same time I came to this realization and glanced to my left to gauge my space there, the Sucky Driver in the SuckUV pulled forward sharply, in an obvious attempt to cut me off from pulling in.

Now, I don't know what the laws or customs of your particular locale are, but around here, the custom is the "zipper rule." One car goes from Lane A, then from Lane B, and so on: ABABABA. Not one car from Lane A, then two from Lane B: ABBAABA etc.

Undeterred by her efforts to force me to wait, I just pulled forward and over enough that she couldn't cut me off again. She tried, but I just kept pulling to the left, until she backed off. Furious that I had done so, she blasted on her horn at me. I ignored her. As this was happening, I re-planned my route home and realized I could get to the road I wanted faster if I went straight instead of turning right.

So I went through the intersection and saw in my rear-view that SD in her SuckUV was also going through the intersection. As I came up to the next light and my left turn, she was going to be turning right at the light. So we're in separate lanes, but she still pulls her SuckUV juuuust close enough to try to give me one last "fuck you, I have a bigger car, I had the right of way" attempt at intimidation. I didn't swerve away or give any indication that I had even noticed, and she made her turn and was gone.

Sorry, lady, I guess I delayed you by about twenty seconds. Oh gosh. Poor baby.

Uggg. I cannot stand the use of intimidation by drivers. It seems to be the custom where I live. Sorry you had to put up with that.

These are the people who don't quite know how insurance and liability work.

It becomes an ingrained habit for those people. Want to go somewhere? Force your way in - you've got the bigger vehicle, so the other guy better yield or get squashed. Trouble is they follow their habit even when it doesn't apply. I hate it when people like that "get in my grille" - it scratches the chrome.

What I can't stand is when you're on a road, and traffic enters, and their lane ends, so they have to merge in. THis happens to me every day coming to work . And traffic isn't moving all that fast. Now, if your car is next to me, but ahead of me, I'll let you in. But what really irks me is those who try are behind you, and try and move fast enough to shove in in front of me.

I've encountered those people too. They obviously don't understand a couple of things:

            1) The right side of a truck is called the "blind side" for a reason.

            2) In the event of a collision, the car gets the worst of the damage.

It's things like this that make me question eventually getting a smaller car.

Wouldn't want to get flattened by some idiot who to goes too far.
