Addressing the cat in the room

I'm sure the logic is just escaping me but why no cats?

Aren't they usually quieter and cleaner than dogs? I would think dogs would have more accidents on the carpet.

Cat Lady's cats sure weren't quieter, since other guests complained.

Big Corporate Boss Lady says she doesn't want to deal with kitty litter. Having worked in a pet friendly motel before here, I can understand that. Kitty litter can get everywhere. Yes, there are guests who will clean it all up, but the ones that don't apparently ruined it for everyone because that was Boss Lady's reasoning.

As for accidents on the carpet, from my past experience cats are equal to dogs in that regard.

Why would people bring cats on vacation? Wouldn't they be freaking out because they're out of their territory (which could explain the meowing so loudly the neighbours complain).

For us, if we bring our cat with us, it's because we had no choice. If we have to run for a hurricane, I am not going to leave her home.

If you have that sort of excuse, I bet I can talk management into granting an exception.

Cat Lady in this case had no such excuse.

And having worked at a pet-friendly motel, I've seen people bring all sorts of pets on vacation. Including goldfish. On vacation. People do it. I can't really explain why.

I did bring my cat Pyewackett when we evacuated from Portsmouth VA - we spent about 2 months living in a campground as well because my first hubby and I were working a nuke station outage near Richmond VA and it cost us about $20 a day for a small cabin. Cat was happy to hang out in our campsite all the time [I think the crunchies and water, and litter pan clinched it] But then again we had asked the camp management if we could bring him with us and they were fine with it. [between the 2 of us we were making $120 a day per diem so we made out like bandits on expenses.]

You called your cat Pyewackett-any particular reason?

There are three scenarios here.
a)Cat likes name.Cat informs all other cats that he will be known as Pyewackett.In fact the Honorable Pyewackett.Very distinguished-cat soars to top of social strata.
b)Cat detests name.Cat informs all other cats that he will be known as Boss.Cat has to supply regular mouse supply to arch enemy cat who has heard him being called this and is now threatening to reveal all to every neighborhood cat.
c)Cat likes name.Cat informs other cats,who fall on their backs killing themself with laughter. Cat makes vain attempts to inform all other cats that he will be known as Boss.Cat sinks to bottom of social strata.

We had to run last year from a hurricane and honestly, my baby girl loved the hotel room. I haven't seen her that relaxed in a long time.

My girly is Sasha. It took me 3 weeks to pick it out. She was originally called Mitchell by the people that took her in because they thought she was a boy when she was really really little. Its a good thing I chose Sasha since it's unisex.

With 2 cats now, I am having Rob refurbish the second penguin cage [one of our ex roomies back in the late 90s worked at an aquarium and they got 2 cages with the penguins that got shipped there from a different aquarium. Instead f throwing them away, Bruce brought them home.] Our roomie Phlip has 3 cats so instead of cramming them into tiny carriers, she can put all 3 of them in one penguin cage. We can carry both cages and our luggage, and camping gear in and on the mom van and jetta, so evacuating would be fairly easy for us.

I LOVE the name. I have a Tonkinese years ago named Pyewackett.
Also, I miss living in Kittery ME/Portsmouth area. We were stationed there for a year in 05 and I worked at the Dunkin' on Woodbury Ave.

Tonks are sweet kittys.

We head to Maine with a friend of ours two or three times a year, more for the socializing than the shopping, but we tend to do much of our Christmas list at Yummies.
