Quoth shopgirl15 View PostI also have a weird reaction to cinnamon - if I smell it I get a headache, can't stand the flavor either. I would think its just me, but my dad has similar reactions.I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Quoth Aethian View PostWhat I don't like is the number of people who don't believe I don't have a sense of smell. I can taste perfectly fine so I *must* be lying about the other sense.

Worst allergy incident I've seen was my buddy, at a strip club. Had to tag him with two of his epi-pens and he wound up in the hospital for two days. Nik happens to be allergic to cinnamon and with the cigars we were smoking, neither of us noticed the aroma of cinnamon before it was too late and the cinnamon coated ta-tas were already applied to his face. Fastest allergy I've seen, Nik had time to turn to me and say "oh shit, my aller..." and that's when his throat closed up. Thankfully, he carries a man-purse with his epipens and other meds.

Quoth EricKei View PostWhen he was working at DaddyJim's Pizza, he found out -- again, the hard way -- that he is allergic to the powder commonly used inside latex gloves. They ordered powder-free gloves for his use, and then he discovered that he was *also* allergic to the latex itself >_< made it kinda hard to work the makeline, especially seeing as how touching certain foods like peppers made him break out in a rash, too.Lady, people aren't chocolates. It's great to hear that I'm not the only one with allergies people don't believe in... for my it's tobacco. Makes working in casinos interesting, but I also have always worked in non-smoking portions of the building (when I was front desk, it was a non-smoking lobby, and since then have always worked back of house). I can handle the smell of tobacco without too much problem, but the smoke itself will give me a massive migraine and too much will cause me to pass out (this is why I prefer to gamble at the Atlantis, their high ceilings and excellent ventilation keep smoke from building up, unlike say the Peppermill that has amazing restaurants but is seriously a mad dash across the casino to avoid suffocating). If you wish to find meaning, listen to the music not the song

The stupid guy says "Hey man, I got pot in my bag but I didn't smoke it. I smoked out in the courtyard like you said on check in"

Quoth Estil View PostCorrect me if I'm wrong but isn't it still illegal no matter where he smoked it (I'm assuming it is illegal where you're at), right? Yeah, good defense for Mr. Stupid Guy...

Quoth Naaman View PostNormally the powder in latex gloves is just cornstarch or talc - both fairly innocuous allergy wise.
Quoth sstabeler View Postit's illegal, but if the hotel says they don't care if you smoke pot in the courtyard, then it's morally wrong for the hotel to then call the cops on you for smoking pot in the courtyard, due to the deception.

Quoth Ironclad Alibi View PostI was also allergic to my workplace, as were many co-workers. I worked with lots of old paper files. Many of us were allergic to paper dust, actually the paper mites that made the paper dust. I haven't had a problem with it since I retired.I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Quoth mathnerd View PostI also seem to be developing some sort of reaction to latex. This is a very bad thing. I'm not sure if it's an allergy, but I do plan on going back to my allergist as soon as my insurance company says I can.
I'm also apparently allergic to hypoallergenic surgical tape. Either that or they didn't actually use the "hypoallergenic" one on me.

Quoth manybellsdown View PostI think latex is one of those things where a sensitivity can be exacerbated by repeated exposure. It didn't used to bother me much, but for awhile I had a job where I had to put latex gloves on all the time. Now it's much worse when I'm in contact with it, I get a rash.

Yeah, I'm not sure if the discomfort I'm experiencing is a developing allergy or just another thing that my fair skinned/red-headed self is sensitive to. I generally can't use bandaids or other medical tapes either. The adhesives usually cause blisters. It sucks. At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.
