Is the term "disgusting" a general British slang thing? Seems like a lot of CRML's sucktomers use it.
That is true! The British (well, the British in my area of the UK) seem to looooveeee the word "disgusting" when something doesn't go their way. Sometimes I wonder if they know any other adjectives.

It just seems odd...I would never use the word "disgusting" to describe supposed poor service unless I saw an employee picking their nose or not washing their hands after using the restroom or something.

It'd be funny to see if the situation would be diffused if you had said something like, "M'am, I apologize, but we're just trying to be sweeter than the competition..." At the hardware store I'm at (opposite of "Highs"), I've had customers try and pay with Home Depot gift cards. I've jokingly reminded them that our store has far more attractive and handsome cashiers than theirs.

Exactly. It is not enough to compensate for him doing so, but it is the least we can do...

SC has way too much time on their hands.
My thought exactly: of all the legitimate problems in the world today, she wants to complain about that?

I'd suggest she go get laid, but I don't know of anyone who does charity work.

Which is why it's called the oldest profession and not the oldest charity. Even they require money for their services.

I remember my responses to petty complaints back in the day. "And?....."

"I just saw that person take 3 sugar packets!"
              "And?...."
              "I think that's greedy!"
              "... And?....."
              "I don't think it's right!"
              "............... And?......"

I think these things go in trends - "disgusting" seems to be the word of the moment, as it's pretty popular down south as well. (Unless you're in Devon or Somerset, of course, in which case if someone is 'disgusted' then they usually express themselves with a few more choice words. It's amazing what a Zummersaaat accent can do to the English language )

Good on your awesome manager for seeing right through that old biddy and shutting her down.
"Bored and want to get somebody in trouble" is about the size of it, and you don't need to be able to "see" people like the Na'vi do in order to figure that one out.

Bah. I think your roommate had an opportunity he missed there..

"Oi, CRML. I think these sugar packets cost us about a penny apiece. Got three cents on you?"

Oh, you don't like the way I run my business lady? Fine, go out, open your own restaurant and make your own damn rules then. Of course, if you were to do that, then you'd have to deal with people like you.

It sounds like she expects you to pay for the extra sugar, not just the coffee. Do you even charge for sugar packets? Every place I've been to provide them for free. You could use 10 packets in a cup if you wanted to and they won't charge you.

                                Me: Nevermind.
