This concerns a now ex-coworker and her family. I don't want to go too much into CW, as outside of work I actually like her. However at work she wasn't great, had a bit of an attitude problem and really didn't take authority well. Her family were also HORRIBLE.
Her family consisted of mother, father and brother. Mother very rarely came into the pub, but she was always fairly pleasant. Father, however was vile. He was in the pub every single day, drinking pint after pint, and he honestly believed because his daughter worked behind the bar that it meant that he had some sort of power and say about what happened. He always had an opinion and was always sticking his nose in. He was also a raging homophobic and racist. The staff HATED him, but he hadn't ever done anything that could result in a ban. The brother was pretty much exactly the same, only he had a much lower intelligence than the rest of them. Over time, the brother started coming into the pub more and more and he was getting really annoying. There was also a very weird/scary time in which brother attempt to come back to my house for an "after party" once I finished my shift. A party I wasn't aware was happening! I literally ran out the cellar doors of the pub so he wouldn't follow me.
CW was coming to the end of her time at the pub. It was obvious. She simply wasn't happy at the pub anymore. She frequently called in sick, disagreed with the management and made it clear she was looking for another job. Her father and brother often piped up, moaning about how unhappy she was and how shit they thought the pub was (whenever they were in the pub, they always stood at the bar, never sat down at a table). And then one day, just like that, CW stopped coming in. She put in her notice that was written on a napkin and left with immediate effect.
Boss informed CW that she was banned from the pub because she did not work her notice. It was Easter week, one of the busiest of the year and covering her shifts was going to be impossible. CW was completely fine with it. She was just glad to be leaving.
Well, her family sure didn't like that!
Father came in, demanding to know why she was banned. Boss calmly explained the perfectly reasonable explanation. Father seemed to accept it. Brother then came in to drink with him, and they proceeded to get wasted. More so than normal. Normally it is hard to distinguish when they are drunk because they are such raging alcoholics, but this time you could completely tell they were deliberately trying to get out of their minds with drink.
Half way through the night, Father left. But Brother stayed. He seemed to get more and more agitated.
B: I can't believe you banned her. After all she's done for this place.
B: I think it is absolutely disgusting!
And then the finale. Just as Boss Lady was walking past.
B: I'm going to burn this place down with you fucking in it!
Boss:
So what do you think Boss did? She tossed him out and called the police. She didn't really need them to get him there and then, because she had his address and everything from CW's file! She sent them around.
A couple of hours later, Father storms in. He is completely and utterly shit faced.
F: What the fuck are you doing? You called the police??
Boss: Well he did threaten to kill me and destroy my business. Oh, and you can tell him he's banned too. I suggest you go before I do the same to you.
F: You're going to fucking regret this! I am going to sue you! I am going to sue everyone that works here!!!!!1111!!
There were six of us serving behind the bar, and all of us started to laugh. Boss Lady got on her radio.
Boss: Can I get a doorman over here? I've got a banned customer at the end of my bar and I want him removed.
The doormen dragged him out. He was screaming and yelling about getting revenge on us all, just throwing more wood onto the fire.
The staff literally could not smiling for the rest of our shift. We've wanted him banned forever, and now it's finally happened!
I wonder if the mother is going to come in next....
