So Boss Man has me going through ALL the survey response comments so that I can put them into some sort of digestible summary. I've gotten all of this year's so far. I noted some of my favorite complaints below.
1) "The lobby should be be larger."
Note that our lobby is huge. I cannot take a picture that encompasses it all. It's large enough that we've hosted wedding ceremonies inside there, art shows, concerts, and other receptions, and still had room to spare! I forwarded this complaint to my supervisor letting her know that we needed to remove the guest rooms and banquet spaces, because clearly what we need is moar lobby!
2) "The fitness center is too small. You should expand it."
Note that this isn't some dinky little hotel fitness center with like 2 or 3 machines. Our fitness center comparable in size to the gym I pay money to go to. I don't know exactly how many machines we have, but it's a lot, plus there's an indoor jogging track and a big empty room with some exercise balls and yoga mats and stuff that we use for yoga, TRX, and other classes. People from the community actually pay good money for memberships to our health club so they can use that equipment (like, ridiculous money). It's a full-size gym set-up.
3) "You should warn guests about the low speed limit on the drive out there. A couple of our guys got tickets!"
Right, because the speed limit signs that say "Radar Enforced" aren't enough. No, clearly it's our responsibility to make sure our guests follow the law!
4) "I didn't like the feel of the gift shop and cafe. The food wasn't as good as the main restaurant and the place just felt out of place and didn't feel very resort-like."
Well, that's because you were at the convenience store across the way which is not a part of the resort, so no shit it isn't going to feel very "resort-like" 'cause it isn't ours! (It also won't feel "resort-like" because it's a friggin' convenience store!)
5) "There should be more information on beach access and how to get there."
Note that we are on a thin, sand-spit peninsula surrounded by ocean. You can see the ocean from just about any window in the place. You walk outside, and there's the beach. Literally, it's right there. If you can't find it or how to access it...I'm not sure I can help you.
6) "We asked if we could get a pepperoni pizza and they said yes, but it
wasn't on the menu. Having the menu reflect what you can get would be great."
So you ordered something that wasn't on the menu and they made it for you anyway, and then you complain about it? Why not just accept that they were nice and made a custom off-menu order for you when you asked? This is a more upscale dining establishment, not a pizzeria, and that's not something they normally prepare. You got it anyway, and still you have to whine? WTF is your problem?
