Back when I worked fast food, we'd occasionally have someone who wanted to buy a case of frozen burger patties. Not sure if it was true, but the manager usually told them we couldn't legally sell the patties, because of food safety reasons. I suspect that explanation was just more convincing. Because these folks didn't care that we had limited inventory and intended to use the burgers ourselves. Not to mention, it's not like our store got some raging hot deal on frozen meat, and that said deal would then be passed along to random Joe Schmoe wanting to take advantage.

There's probably also tax questions - depending on locale, you may have to charge differently for the patties, as they are more like groceries than prepared food.

So many people at the bakery want uncooked bread that it's crazy. Yes, okay, we can sell it by the case but not by the bag, we can't do that -- although by my previous supervisor, we were allowed to. That was nipped rather quickly after they left.

I'm with ELTF: if the guy didn't want the cooked pizza, he should return the cooked pizza to get his refund. Heck, if I were a MOD and a customer actually did that, I'd throw in a bottle of soda for their trouble or a coupon for breadsticks or something for their trouble... and their honesty (at least in not eating something they claimed they didn't want -- the issue with not actually having stated that they wanted one uncooked aside).

I cannot think of a single fast food burger joint that I have ever been to where I would choose a case of their frozen hockey pucks over fresh hamburger from the grocery store. Heck, I can get frozen patties at the grocer, too.

Customer orders 2 medium pizzas over the internet for pickup/takeout/takeaway.

Pizzas get made, cooked, cut, boxed and placed into the hot box awaiting the customer. Nothing out of the ordinary. Customer picks up the order and leaves.

A bit later the phone rings and the above customer immediately starts in on the poor server who answered the phone.

The customer apparently tried to specify on the order (according to them in several places) that they wanted ONE of the two pizzas NOT to be cooked. Server tries to explain to the customer that according to our food license we can not do this. The customer keeps going on and on about how they SPECIFIED one pizza was NOT TO BE COOKED.

The server finally gets in a word, puts the customer on hold and get the MOD.

The MOD tries to explain to the customer THE SAME THING. WE ONLY are allowed to serve fully cooked product. The customer will not have this. The MOD reprints the order ticket and can find NO special instructions ANYWHERE on the ticket.

MOD finally gives up and tells the customer they can come in for a refund on the one pizza.

Yes I know there are places out there like Papa Murphy's that specialize in take-home-and-bake pizzas and they require (at least in my county/state) a special food license along with a tray or pan to bake it. BUT we, on the other hand have no such license AND we are not allowed to even half bake a pizza.
