I still have a pile of TI 99-4/A consoles sitting around downstairs. Even with a stack of games, the tape player, and a full set of manuals, they're pretty much worthless. There's no real demand for them, mostly because all of the software can be downloaded over the 'net and run on emulators.Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari

Like televisions. I just bought a new one yesterday, taking advantage of a great Cyber Monday deal. I had hemmed and hawed, telling myself I couldn't buy a new one until the giant dinosaur in my BR died. Which is has refused to do! Giant 27" Proscan that weighs a thousand pounds. My plan was to move the smaller tv I bought a few years ago into the BR, and replace that with something a bit larger, which I did. 43"
My friend, who I'm convinced lives in some sort of alternate universe sometimes, told me I should try and sell the old tv! Right. I don't even think I could GIVE it away. Esp since flatscreens are the only kind you can buy now!
However, as she is cheap, and wants a tv in HER BR, if she can find a way to get it down the stairs, out the door, and next door up to HER apt, she's taking it. Fine by me, i want it OUT.

I can vouch for not being able to give them away - I just replaced a 32" JVC crt TV and I can't find anyone who wants it. At the moment I'm a little fuzzy on who I can even pay to get rid of it!Quoth Catwoman2965 View PostLike televisions. I just bought a new one yesterday, taking advantage of a great Cyber Monday deal. I think my plan of saving money by waiting till flat panel TVs came down in price had a flaw in it...Life: Reality TV for deities. - dalesys

I still have my ancient Sony 20" Trinetron in the corner of my LR, where it's been since i bought my other one, almost FOUR years ago. i just can't get it out; too heavy, and don't have anyone to help.Quoth mhkohne View PostI can vouch for not being able to give them away - I just replaced a 32" JVC crt TV and I can't find anyone who wants it. Yea, they are on my list to call - their website says they take < 32" in store (so I'm out of luck there), but I'm fuzzy on whether they'll pick up without delivering a new item.Quoth mjr View PostYou might be able to take it to your Yellow Price Tag. I need to draft my two sons (that are in town) to horse a 32" PC monitor out of my buddy's 45' bus...I am not an a**hole. I am a hemorrhoid. I irritate a**holes!

I don't believe they will. I wondered that too, but am guessing since they only charge $20 to take your old tv, its only if you buy a new one, from them, and have it delivered. $20 is way too cheap to have someone come and simply pick it up, and recycle. Sigh.Quoth mhkohne View PostYea, they are on my list to call - their website says they take < 32" in store (so I'm out of luck there), but I'm fuzzy on whether they'll pick up without delivering a new item.

Yea, I didn't think this was going to be this hard, so I bought the new TV from Amazon.Quoth zond View PostWhen I purchased a flat screen a few years back I bought it at yellow price tag instead of elsewhere because they would deliver and take away the 38" CRT TV that I couldn't move.
Gonna be fun...Life: Reality TV for deities. - dalesys

CRT sets indeed have a following with retro gamers. A few years ago, I helped Dave1982 pick up a 27" Sony Trinitron set which he bought on CraigsList. I myself keep a number of CRT sets around here for my vintage video game systems and early computers, and they come in handy often.Quoth BlaqueKatt View Postretro gamers. that is all.

I have a Coleco Adam (surprising, I know
), and as far as I'm concerned, it's not fit to bear my name.
I think the computer part works (to some extent, at the least), but as the printer (which doubles as the computer's power supply) has a major malfunction with its mechanism/circuitry (print head constantly seeks to the right, banging up against the 'end stop'), I haven't been able to run it for long. In general, it wasn't a very good design, and effectively took down the entire Coleco company with it.

woo hoo, I actually know someone with an adam!Quoth AdamAnt316 View PostI have a Coleco Adam (surprising, I know

we just have the console(oddly enough it came with adam controllers-and fortunately I like the aesthetic of white controllers, black console), the atari adapter and some extra joysticks, and the original boxes
(bought on ebay for under $100), and enough games for it to be worthwhile(though we do have it hooked up to the HDTV because we couldn't find a CRT we liked
)
