Four or five times a year our company runs a special sale where you can get a lot of money off our biggest, most popular and more expensive items- up to £30 off in some cases. It only runs for four days and is only on half a dozen items.
This sale brings The Suck (tm) in in DROVES.
except for an hour at the end of my shift, the entire day yesterday was busy and full of frustrated, angry people. Some of the supercheap items were already running low and we won't get any more in before the sale finishes (they sent us hundreds of them, but it's never enough) and of course, this is my fault.
It's also my fault that it's busy and they have to wait in a queue.
Or that the item they normally get isn't in the sale.
Or that, because of the crowds things have been put back in the wrong place, where due to being busy we haven't had a chance to keep on top of things and put them back, leading to some price confusion (which wouldn't be a confusion in the first place if they read the sign).
We had a couple of nice customers (one man who looked at my frazzled expression and said 'I hope they're paying you well for this and didn't frown at my hollow laughter comes to mind)
By the end of the day I was making stupid mistakes as I was so tired and stressed. Those were my fault, but I didn't appreciate being treated like a child over them.
No specific stories here, just a general outpouring of dislike for rude people who expect me licking their boots.
