I'd like to point out to all the iPhone fanatics that LG has the stupid Prada phone which retails for about 150 more than the 8 gig iPhone. Touch screen fun aside, I'm just gonna wait until it becomes industry standard. While I want one, I refuse to pay extra cash just for a smear of steve jobs' holiness on a phone or a prada brand name stamped up where my ear goes. WTF ITS A PHONE

My LG vx8600 phone was 270 retail (long story, lost the old one), and I LOVE IT. It's so cool it might as well be an iphone without touch screen.

I have a cell phone. I actually have a Razr (or whatever it's called) but only because I lost my last phone, this one is the only phone available in eye-searing pink, and it cost only $50 after rebate). I use it as a phone sometimes, and for the camera feature, rarely. I use it for nothing else.

I can't possibly see any value in owning an iPhone or any similar device at this time. I figure, eventually, enough people will be connected via texting that it will be useful to have one of these portable mini-computers that also works as a phone, but it's not that time, yet.

Most people trying to get the iPhone are complete idiots who are only interested in "keeping up with the Joneses." Most of the rest are Mac enthusiasts who genuinely want the connectivity of the device. And a few just have money to burn and want what they think looks like another cool gadget.

Really? Are you like a genie or something? Do you have legitimate authority to allow that? Sweet! First item on the list, firing Uwe Boll into the sun. Then I'll fill your house with scorpions.

Ooooh.... can I watch! You could sell tickets and make enough to make a good remake of at least one of his films.

I knew this would happen. Die-hard Mac enthusiasts cannot be swayed by a mere mortal like myself. Steve jobs could put an etch-a-sketch in a box with the Apple logo, call it the "iFark," sell it for hundreds of dollars, and these people would still buy it as long as it's compatible with OS X.

Actually, any TRUE die-hard Mac addict
1) Would already have the correct software (widget?) to make their phone compatible with OSX
2) Is rolling their eyes at the iPhone

You couldn't pay me to buy the iPhone. Mostly cuz I refuse to willingly purchase or own anything Mac/Apple related (except Pixar stuff). I won't get into the dirty details now. Ask me later if interested.

Anyhow, I have Nextel. I use the 2-way walkie talkie feature 99% of the time to call my DH, our friends who all have Nextel, and most of our family. I get by with only 300 minutes a month because the 2-way minutes/seconds are unlimited. I have never text messaged anyone, ever. I can scroll my list and talk to them on the 2-way faster than trying to type a message. It is faster than an instant message as well. I can even talk to my grandpa on the 2way instantly, and he lives 4 hours north.

I have to admit, I would like to have the pink Razr (i have a thing for that shade of pink), but they don't make one with the Nextel features, so I guess I will have to settle for one that is as close as possible when my nascar anniversary edition one kicks the bucket. That likely won't be anytime soon, as I have dropped it on concrete from 15 feet up and all it did was chip the paint/finish in 2 spots. The phone still works as if it were brand new.

I may be getting one of them phones... but not unless they are 400€ or cheaper. I'm not spending 600 bucks on that thing.

At the moment, 400€ is about $550. That's not that far of a leap. (The 4 gig model runs $500 in the US. Don't know what european pricing's going to be like.)
